Wherein Elnora meets the Bird Woman

Elnora has two pieces of good luck in this chapter.  She gets a jub and finds out how she can get her textbooks cheap.  At the end of the chapter, she is wondering what to tell her mother ?  Is it Elnora's duty to help her mother pay the taxes on the farm?  Do you think the Comstock's are poor?

  1. i don't think so because you usuallly only have to worry about taxes when you are an adult

  2. i think it is her job to help out with the taxes. in my family if you have any job at anyage you' should pay some of the money to the owners or mother and father. it should be the same with her family of her and her mom. and i do not think her family's poor. i think her mom at this point just doesnt' think its relevant or any good for the family for to be going to school. then working at the farm and bringing in money. the mom is then thinking instead of bringing in money she'll be taking money away from the family and farm.

  3. I disagree with Erik everyone pays taxes no matter what goes on any where else everyone pays taxes even of it is for something like a pack of gum or cigarettes or a candy bar, something it just doesn't matter. and I think that the bird woman is her mother.

  5. I really don't think so, because adults are the only ones that really have to worry about taxes.
